What began as a vision to meet the growing needs of The Landing has now become a reality. Ghidorzi Companies is proud to celebrate the completion of The Landing’s transformative renovation and three story expansion—creating a vibrant, purpose-built destination where older adults can connect, stay active, explore new interests and build lasting friendships.
Since opening in 2019, The Landing has grown far beyond expectations. Membership has soared from 1,000 members in its first year to more than 6,000 today, reflecting the overwhelming success of its programs and important role within the community. With generous funding provided by the Davis Foundation, Ghidorzi Companies partnered once again with The Landing to create a three level expansion that increases the facility from 6,000 square feet to nearly 20,000 SF.
One of the most noticeable improvements is the creation of a dedicated entrance on 4th Street along with 30 additional parking spaces providing easier access for members and a more welcoming arrival experience. Just outside, a beautifully landscaped ground-level patio overlooking Yawkey Park extends the social atmosphere outdoors with covered seating, communal tables and inviting green space.
Inside, the first floor has been reimagined as the heart of The Landing. By relocating programming spaces to the upper level, the main floor now offers significantly expanded social seating, gathering areas and game spaces that encourage conversation, connection and community throughout the day.
The new second and third floors provide dedicated administrative offices alongside spacious, modern program rooms that support everything from arts and crafts to games, educational programming, wellness activities and special events. Designed with accessibility and convenience in mind, the expansion includes a dedicated elevator, wide hallways, beverage stations, storage and restrooms throughout the building.
Crowning the addition is the 1,465 square foot rooftop terrace, a signature feature of the project. Complete with comfortable lounge seating and open-air gathering spaces, the rooftop creates a unique destination for outdoor programming and community events while offering beautiful views overlooking downtown Wausau.
While the completed expansion dramatically increases The Landing’s capacity today, it was also designed with tomorrow in mind. Incorporated into the project is 4,350 square feet of expansion space that has been structurally built out and reserved for future interior completion should membership and programming continue to grow. This forward-thinking approach ensures The Landing can continue evolving alongside the community it serves without requiring another major structural addition.
The completed expansion stands as an investment in the future of the community—a place designed to welcome today’s members while remaining ready for generations of growth to come.
