The impact is bright following the 16th Annual Ghidorzi Green and Clean – cleaner parks, brighter neighborhoods and a renewed sense of community pride! On Saturday, April 26, in honor of Earth Day, 750 volunteers collected 3.72 tons of trash across Wausau, Rib Mountain, Schofield, Rothschild, and Weston. This pushes our cumulative total to an impressive 44.14 TONS collected since the event began in 2010—an incredible milestone made possible by our community’s continued commitment to a clean city.
This year, 36 Event Partners rallied their teams, helping to recruit volunteers and expand the event’s reach. The initiative also saw strong participation from families and youth, reflecting the event’s inclusive, hands-on spirit.
Volunteers were encouraged to register online at ghidorzigreenandclean.com to receive their Ghidorzi Green and Clean Supply Kits, which included free safety green t-shirts, gloves, trash bags, and site maps. Participants chose their clean-up zones and were asked to leave filled bags in designated roadside locations, where their dedicated Event Driver ensured every bag was collected.
The Kick-Off Event at Corporate Cover Tower provided energy, entertainment and excitement with Dave Kallaway from WIFC on the mic. Complimentary refreshments, live announcements and fun giveaways were in the mix to motivate our volunteers before heading to their cleanup sites.
Adding to the success of this year’s event was the unbeatable weather—the sunniest and warmest conditions we’ve ever experienced for the Ghidorzi Green and Clean! The clear skies and the warmth of spring made the day even more enjoyable for our hardworking crews.
