An exciting expansion is underway at The Landing, a place for older adults to connect – to learn, play, exercise and socialize! Since its inception in 2019, The Landing has experienced remarkable growth in membership and program engagement, necessitating additional space to better serve its community. Thanks to generous foundation support, The Landing will renovate the current space and expand upward to include a second and third story as well as two new outdoor spaces, growing from 6,500 sq. ft. to nearly 20,000 sq. ft.
The first floor will be reimagined as a dedicated social space, expanding the footprint and increasing seating capacity by relocating programming areas to the third floor. An exclusive new entry and reception area from 4th Street will improve member access, drop-off, and check-in convenience. The addition of a patio overlooking Yawkey Park featuring greenery and comfortable seating will offer members an inviting space to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
The new second and third floors will provide much-needed office space for staff and administration and expanded programming rooms for game play, arts and events, respectively. The expansion will include a dedicated elevator and staircase for members, as well as bathrooms, coat storage and beverage stations on each floor.
The third floor will feature two new programming rooms. One is smaller with bookcases and a fireplace for a more cozy, intimate feel. The second is larger to accommodate bigger gatherings while also providing direct access to the outdoor space. The third floor rooftop patio is complete with soft seating, tables and turf for outdoor gaming, creating a unique and dynamic space for social gatherings and special events.
This expansion is a testament to The Landing’s dedication to enriching the lives of older adults, and we are honored to bring this vision to life.
