Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care opens their doors as the area’s first non-profit funeral home to ease the burden of loss in our community. Ghidorzi served as architect, general contractor, and interior designer, coming alongside the Ascend team to create a 6,000 sq. ft. facility with a home-like atmosphere for families to feel comforted as they both grieve and celebrate the life of a loved one. The overall design intent was to highlight the transitional nature of life and death with the building’s architecture, material selection and palette of tranquil hues. A strong sense of welcome is achieved from the very entry point of the property where every aspect of the project from the building exterior to carefully appointed interiors was purposefully designed to be a seamless oasis within the surrounding neighborhood.
