PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
NTC Medford is responsible for fueling the ever-evolving economy of the surrounding region with a highly skilled workforce. When they needed a new facility to remain on the cutting edge of teaching, learning and demand for workforce skills, they utilized the spectrum of our services to achieve the center for excellence they envisioned. The NTC team is most pleased with the flexibility and adaptability of the building, which will allow them to quickly and cost-effectively modify the learning spaces as needed to maintain a forward-looking curriculum for decades to come.
Ghidorzi Companies led the site selection approval for this design build leaseback and worked directly with the city of Medford to purchase the land in the municipal business park. While city approvals were in progress, the Ghidorzi design build team to advance the project, working with NTC to design a state-of-the-art distance learning campus catering to the student experience with nearly universal exposure to natural daylight, intuitive wayfinding and easy building flow. The facility is designed with the latest technology for distance learning that enables this campus to offer 80 diplomas. The NTC Medford campus will serve 1,400 learners this year, is the college’s most technologically advanced location and also the largest nursing school outside of Wausau.
The needs of the healthcare industry in Medford influenced the curriculum and design of the new campus where there is a distinct focus on Health Sciences. The campus includes a Bed Lab for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a Health Science Lab for Phlebotomy & Medical Assistant courses and a Medical Assistant Exam Room.
In addition to the healthcare features, the new campus has a welcoming reception area, student lounge, conference rooms, Learning Center, two face-to-face classrooms that can be combined into one large classroom for big groups, two Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC) origination rooms and five additional IVC classrooms to go along with a state-of-the-art Computer Flex Lab and NetMeeting room.
