The recently opened Nicolet National Bank in Colby was designed and built to serve local customers and staff with a fresh space that pays homage to the bank’s history in the Colby area. Ghidorzi Design | Build | Develop was proud to act as Architect and General Contractor for this project, working alongside the Nicolet Colby team to bring their vision to life.
Part of that vision was to incorporate a 7,800 lb. historic vault door from Mosler Safe Co. into the interior architecture, a challenge that the Ghidorzi design team readily embraced. The first step was to find the best location to showcase both sides of the door, followed by the need to equip the building’s structural design with reinforced concrete footings to accommodate its heft. Finally, the installation of the door into its custom metal frame was planned through large window frames early on in construction, but with enough of the building shell in place to prevent exposure to the elements.
The vault door is a slice of history for all to appreciate as the next chapter of banking history in Colby is written. Other historic tributes within the Nicolet Colby space include the Conference Room Mural designed by Elevate 97 and other artifacts from earlier days of banking.
Along with paying homage to its roots, this facility brings Nicolet Colby into a modern space. The fresh exterior contains oversized windows for ample natural light and interior borrowed lights to brighten the office core. For optimal customer service and added security, the teller counter has direct sight lines to the entire lobby, including all offices, the vault and two exterior drive-ups with ATM. The conference room accommodates virtual meetings and conferences, and the lobby features Nicolet Branded artwork and a customer beverage center.
This vibrant new Nicolet National Bank branch is located at 810 North Division Street in Colby, WI.
