Wausau, WI – April 30, 2015 – Area residents demonstrated their community pride and ownership once again at the Ghidorzi Green & Clean. Four hundred volunteers, 140 of whom were kids, picked up 2.09 tons or 4,180 pounds of trash on Saturday. This was the 6th annual Ghidorzi Green & Clean, which has now removed a total of 13.54 tons of litter from the greater Wausau landscape.
“The success of the Ghidorzi Green & Clean and enthusiasm of our volunteers is a testament to the genuine community pride that makes Wausau a vibrant place to live and work,” said Chuck Ghidorzi, President & CEO of Ghidorzi Companies whose vision it was for a community wide cleanup to take place annually after the winter thaw as a proactive way for residents to celebrate Earth Day.
Thank you to our 2015 Event Partners and each of the 400 volunteers who pitched in on Saturday. A key success factor for the Ghidorzi Green & Clean is the support of area businesses and organizations who become Event Partners free of charge by forming a team and recruiting volunteers.
Please save for the date for next year’s Ghidorzi Green & Clean on Saturday, April 23, 2016. In the meantime, our 2015 photo gallery clearly illustrates that this event is as much about having fun as it rolling up our sleeves to keep greater Wausau beautiful.
