Earth Day Cleanup of Greater Wausau has Removed 11.45 tons of Litter to Date
WAUSAU, WI – March 12, 2015 – Keep Wausau beautiful by participating in the Ghidorzi Green & Clean Event on April 25, the Saturday following Earth Day. Now in its sixth year, the Ghidorzi Green & Clean has removed an estimated 11.45 tons of litter from the greater Wausau landscape, thanks to volunteers who spend just two hours picking up trash.
The Ghidorzi Green & Clean continues to be a favorite community event among businesses and organizations who can become Event Partners free of charge simply by forming a team and recruiting volunteers. Many repeat volunteers are kids who recognize litter as a significant environmental problem, and take pride in seeing the difference their Green & Clean effort makes year after year.
The event kicks off at Corporate Cove Tower and encompasses the entire Wausau metro area, including Wausau, Rib Mountain, Schofield, Rothschild and Weston. Refreshments and check-in begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by deployment of volunteers and trash pickup from 9 – 11 a.m. Volunteers depart directly from their cleanup site.
All members of the community are invited to participate. The more volunteers, the cleaner our community will be for the warm weather months. Additional information, including online registration, can be found on the Ghidorzi Green & Clean website at http://www.ghidorzigreenandclean.com/ or via Facebook at the Ghidorzi Green & Clean 2015 event page.
