Ghidorzi Companies Takes the Waste Out of Wastewater Treatment

Wausau residents are reducing their carbon footprint whether they know it or not, thanks to upgrades at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.  In addition to shrinking the plant’s environmental impact, the upgrades are expected to reduce the utility’s electric and natural gas bill by $70,000 a year – saving money for Wausau residents by minimizing the need for utility rate increases.

In an effort to be proactive about its aging infrastructure, the plant is installing innovative new technology and equipment that will reduce its overall electricity usage.  These changes will also enable the plant to utilize more naturally occurring methane gas rather than tapping other energy resources.

Ghidorzi Companies is the contractor that is facilitating the building changes needed to accommodate the changes, with Joe Gehin (photo at right) as Project Manager.  As the former Director of Public Works & Utilities for the city, Joe understood the value of this process upgrade as well as the implementation scheme and was able to hit the ground running with the project.

The plant upgrades will put Wausau’s Wastewater Treatment Plant on the cutting edge of industry technology and ensure that this Wausau utility is as efficient and environmentally responsible as any community in the state.
