Ghidorzi Companies has made Wausau an important connecting dot on the growing map of charging stations nationwide for Tesla premium electric vehicles. The high power charging station at the Courtyard by Marriott of Wausau hotel is a centrally located oasis for Tesla owners visiting Central Wisconsin or travelling the state from any direction via the main arteries of I39, US51 and WI 29 that intersect here.
“Installing the Tesla charging station made universal sense to the Ghidorzi team, especially because Wausau is uniquely positioned to serve as a hub for Tesla owners to recharge while traveling across the state,” said Chris Ghidorzi, owner of the Ghidorzi Hotel Group and Vice President of Ghidorzi Companies. “We saw an opportunity to support the environment and impressive green technology behind Tesla petroleum free cars while offering a new amenity to business and leisure guests of our Courtyard by Marriott of Wausau hotel. This is an exciting new development for Wausau and we love the positive energy that Tesla owners bring to the community.”
The new charging station in Wausau is the northern most location in the state, giving Tesla owners unprecedented charging access for travel to the Northwoods of Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The next closest charging stations are roughly 100 miles away to the east in Green Bay, west in Eau Claire and south in Wisconsin Dells. Tesla owners can now drive cross country using only high power charging stations like Courtyard’s and the growing infrastructure of Superchargers.
The Tesla High Power Wall Connector offers more than twice the power of typical charging stations, adding up to 58 miles of range to the Tesla Model S in just one hour. Telsa owners can check in at the Courtyard by Marriott of Wausau for a relaxing overnight stay and be fully recharged in the morning. Or they can stop by for a quick charge while enjoying a Starbuck’s coffee at the Courtyard Bistro or bite to eat next door at the Great Dane Pub & Brewery.
Ryan Johnson, a Tesla owner for just four days and traveling sales executive for Pacific Life Insurance Company, is a testament to the significance of a charging station in Wausau. His vehicle purchase depended on it.
Ryan needed the Central Wisconsin charging station to power his frequent travel from Madison to Green Bay, Wausau, Eau Claire and the Twin Cities. As a regular guest at the Courtyard by Marriott of Wausau, he encouraged Tesla to target the hotel for a high powered charging station – not only for him but for other Tesla owners who would enjoy the convenient off highway location at the area’s premier hotel for business and leisure travelers with the Great Dane Pub and Brewing Company next door.
At the same time, there was local support for a high power charging station from Wausau resident and Tesla enthusiast Mark Asplund. Mark has owned his Model S for 15 months and charges at home via his own charging station and well as solar panels he has installed to further minimize the carbon footprint of his driving experience. Although Mark has no need to charge at the Courtyard by Marriott of Wausau, he recognizes that the station is a progressive step for Wausau and an important connecting point for Tesla owners.
A Tesla Test Drive Event is planned for later this summer at the Wausau Courtyard hotel. The event will be open to the public and will offer guests the exciting opportunity to experience firsthand the style, speed, luxury and comfort of the Tesla Model S. Stay tuned for details via the Ghidorzi Companies Facebook page and Twitter.
The Tesla high power charging station at the Courtyard by Marriott of Wausau is available to any Tesla owner living in, visiting or travelling to the area for fee of $15. The station can be found on Plugshare and can be reserved by calling the hotel at 715.849.2124.
